Adventure: 

This genre is fiction that generally presents danger, or gives the audiences a sense of enthusiasm with excitement. An adventure storyline is about a protagonist who journeys to epic or distant places to accomplish something. It can have many other genre themes as well as elements including Justice, Reason vs. faith coming of age and sacrifice because it is a very open genre, the protagonist has a mission and faces obstacles to get to their destination. 

 Also adventure films were intended to appeal mainly to men and young boys, with creating major male heroic stars through the years I.e. Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and captain jack sparrow in pirates of the Caribbean (Johnny Depp). These courageous, patriotic, heroes often fought bravely for their beliefs, struggled for freedom, or overcame injustice. Which gave educated information, identifying with others, entertainment and escapism.

Action:

An Action film is a film genre in which one or more heroes are thrown into a series of challenges that include physical, extended fight scenes, violence, mountaineering and frantic rescue chases all for audience escapism. Action films usually feature a resourceful character struggling against incredible odds, the main action centers around a male action hero or protagonist with life-threatening situations, a villain, or a pursuit which generally concludes in victory for the hero with films like (rush hour), (Lethal weapon), (James Bond) and (The day after tomorrow). 

Furthermore, the action genre includes themes and elements of redemption, vengeance, resurrection, rescue, and quest with prominent action heroes like: Jackie Chan, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Lee. Action films have traditionally been aimed at male audiences, ages 13 to the mid-30s in both American and world-wide markets. This is because most action films have large amounts of fast paced scenes, violence and sexual content which would be the gratifications that the audience will look for. 

The use of representative content and Subject matter have also advancements in CGI, which has made it cheaper and efficient to create action sequences with other visual effects that required the efforts of professional stunt crews in the past. In one way or another a similar alternative is to have an actor put on a special suit that records their actions, this way they can edit and transition the process onto a CGI character to have them imitate the actions the person in the suit did. 

The demographics of this audience would more likely be an alternative audience can be animated films like Toy Story or Cars which are aimed towards children primarily, although some aspects of the film can appeal to parents. Also, the female audience for this genre would be aged 16-25 years old, one of the main reasons for this could be since they the girlfriends or friends of people already are going meaning their gratification is to interact socially with friends and family.

Thriller:  

This film genre is known to promote intense suspense with, paranoia, anxiety, high tension levels and exaggerated expectations. Thriller films are very similar and share common characteristics and interchangeable theme. Thrillers are often sub genres then hybrids; lots of varieties of suspense-thrillers: psychological thriller, crime thriller, political thriller, and action thriller with films such as (Dirty Harry), (Psycho) and (Along came a spider). 

The target audience alters and varies depending on the sub-genre for example, horror thrillers The average Target audience for a Thriller film are usually around 14-50 years old more females then male especially because the actors tend to be mature adults as well as the dark tones with sinister scenes can be very intense for the mainstreamed younger audiences, for instance with films like the machinist whose insomnia and psychological problems lead to a serious workplace accident involving a colleague (Ironside). Moreover, after Reznik is fired, he goes into a downward spiral of guilt, paranoia and delusion then failing into a state of serve anorexia. 

Comedy: 

Comedies Are films that are designed preferably to elicit laughter from the audience. Comedies are light-hearted dramas, entertaining, crafted for amusement, provoking with enjoyment. The comedy genre humorously tends to exaggerates the situation, the verbal and body language, action, and characters. Comedies observe the deficiencies, and frustrations of life, providing escapism from daily life. They usually have happy endings, although the humor may have a serious or pessimistic side.

Comedy has a huge target audience by having various sub genres as well as hybrid I.e. slap stick (Shrek films), black comedy (burn after reading) and (once upon a time in Hollywood), parody or spoof films, (scary movie) and (Airplane),romantic comedy (There is something about Mary), fantasy comedy (night at the museum), and action comedy (Beverley hill cops). 

With children’s comedy films Its usually aimed at 5 to 12 years old. Whereas parody/spoof comedy tends to be at the highest bit of the spectrum by having audiences of 15- 30 years old with a common preference of young men because of the amplified sarcasm, stereotyping, as well as mockery of scenes from other films. Nonetheless romantic comedy has a subtle humor with serious elements that are relatable in everyday relationships as they are not supposed to be laugh out loud comedy, it is aimed at women aged 13 to 24 since woman have a strong connection with romance.

Horror: 

Within the genre, violence, strong language, extreme blood and gore, extreme horror, sexual references and acts etc. This covers the age classification 15, 18, R18. Reasons for this are the plot and themes appeal more to the younger generation. Also, this this age range are more likely to be thrill seekers than that like elements of fantasy, supernatural fiction, fears and terror. Furthermore, other media products such as console video games and television programs audiences within this age range tend to be less susceptible to being put off by the extreme violence and unnatural images. This is called desensitisation.

Horror films are for both genders and are targeted at 15-25 audience, however the genre does appeal more to the male demographic than women. This is because the extreme violence and threat of danger is more appealing to males than females. Yet In one way or another not all women are put off by some of the content included in the genre, female viewers also enjoy the suspense and of extreme violence in horror films. 

The types of audiences that the horror genre Attracts are groups of friends, families and couples. Since watching a horror film with friends, family members or a boyfriend/girlfriend, offers the viewer comfort and the feeling of protection. For example, safety in numbers, viewing horror films with another group also acts as a great social interaction, entertainment and escapism. 

Romance: 

Romance films are romantic love stories that focus on the themes passion, emotion, and the affectionate romantic involvement of the main characters with the journey that their love takes them through dating, courtship or marriage. Romance films make the romantic love story or the search for pure love including romance the main plot focus with films such as love actually, twilight and a star is born. Occasionally, romance lovers face certain obstacles such as finances, physical illness, various forms of discrimination, psychological restraints or family hurdles that threaten to break their union of love.

Romance has very popular blended genres of the following romantic drama, or, romantic comedy, romantic thriller and romantic comedy the target audience for romantic films are 13- 40 because young and mature women are typically more affectionate and connected emotionally so they will get hooked to the characters and the love interest as well as feelings between them. 

This age group are beginning to start new relationships or are in a relationship so they will be able to relate to the storyline and the characters are normally quite young which will also attract this age group. they enjoy watching romantic films as some will want their relationship to be like the one in the film as it normally has a happy ending.
